Sarah Roberts Yatman

CEO, Sovereign Port

From a young age, Sarah has been a serial entrepreneur. Before 21, she began her second business, a home shopping program that grew into 4 states. These were sold over the next 4 years. At 28, she began the Houston Business Channel, interviewing over 1000 C-level leaders and Politicians. The cable channel in which she broadcast was part of a Houston based Public Utility. They brought her in-house as their youngest SVP & Political Liaison. At 33, she was recruited by Gustavo de la Garza, owner of the second-largest telecommunications company in Mexico. He appointed her as the director of BILLETEL, a pre-paid MasterCard based in Houston. Under her direction, they took the company from losing 70k a month to being sold for 24M inside 11 months.

Since 2011, she has been an O&G consultant, the SVP of the largest O&G news agency in the US, a consultant and funding partner for the Energy Globe Awards & Convergence Monaco - bringing 400M of alternative funding to start-ups in the US from Europe. She has worked on three continents with 6 projects in the past 5 years.

Due to Hemp not being federally legal to grow in the states, she journeyed back to Europe to meet with hemp farmers, processors and distributors to bring hemp products to the U.S. Many suppliers were not willing to export to the US due to customs issues and product loss.

Utilizing her Choctaw heritage allowed easier access to Foreign Trade Zone's nationwide. This provided CBD with a safe passage into a climate-controlled and secured location. December 2018, the US Farm Bill passed making CBD federally legal in the U.S., resulting in a larger domestic demand.

After a year of legal and strategic planning, we have been awarded the first US Customs approval to import cannabis biomass, isolate and oils. We are excited to offer safe canna import & export in the U.S. with shipping worldwide. Our licensing will assist in the CBD movement globally.

Matthew Brecht

Ph.D Key Account Manager, Marrone Bio Innovations

Dr. Brecht is widely renowned as a thought leader in the cannabis industry, with over 20 years of experience in farming systems, plant pathology, crop protection, testing, epidemiology, crop management and pest control strategies in agricultural production. He is currently Key Account Manager for Marrone Bio Innovations, the company behind IPM staples like Regalia CG, Venerate CG, and Grandevo CG. Most recently, Dr. Brecht was the President and Founder of Dutch Valley Farms, an indoor cannabis producer located in Portland, OR. Prior to founding Dutch Valley Farms, he spent over 11 years as Territory Manager at Syngenta, growing one of the Company’s largest U.S. sales regions. Dr. Brecht has a Ph.D. & M.S. in Plant Pathology from the University of Florida, Gainesville and a B.S. in Biology from University of North Carolina, Wilmington, NC.

Marc Ferguson

CEO, Oso Vega Inc.

Marc has over 30 years of experience with imaginative and forward-looking startups, each involving disruptive technologies and transformative business models. As CEO at Oso Vega, Marc’s team has significantly boosted the success rate of both farmers and processors by standardizing practices and genetics and creating a commoditized marketplace for the industry. One of Marc’s goals with Oso Vega is to support the industry from the farmer up to build a sound foundation for the industry to grow from.

“The work we are doing using logistics and machine intelligence to transform the hemp industry is the most exciting of all. Partly because we’re able to focus on growers’ success first, but in a way that subsequently benefits supplies, processors, and end consumer. In the modern agribusiness, it is often just the opposite.”

At Oso Vega, Marc has overseen the innovative wet harvesting and commodity management solutions that the company offers. These solutions immediately make growers more profitable and deliver dramatic improvements in supply certainty, traceability, and price stability for cannabinoid-based product intermediaries and end products.

Prior to Oso Vega, Marc founded two predictive analytics (artificial intelligence) companies and sold the technology assets to GE Financial and the 5th largest health and human services charitable organization in the U.S. respectively.

Nic Easley

CEO, 3C Consulting, LLC

As a Veteran of the U.S. Air Force, I've personally experienced the therapeutic value of the cannabis plant. My work in the industry began in Colorado's early medical market and has since expanded into 34 U.S. States, two Territories, and 17 countries. Along the way, I've witnessed the numerous pitfalls experienced by cannabis entrepreneurs. I've observed weak cultivation, extraction, and manufacturing techniques that resulted in negative environmental and social impacts. I've seen improperly structured companies crippled by their tax burden. I firmly believe that as pioneers and leaders in the cannabis industry, we have a great responsibility to steward its growth. It's my mission to develop profitable companies that employ forward-compliant business procedures, support their communities, and utilize environmentally responsible practices. As the CEO of 3C Consulting, I oversee daily operations, business development, and work hands-on with clients to optimize their operations. 3C provides strategic and tactical consulting to cultivation, extraction, manufacturing, retail, delivery, and distribution companies as well as ancillary service providers and product manufacturers in the industry. We are passionate about introducing demonstrated best practices from other industries to the cannabis space. In the process, we establish the highest industry standards for sustainable, long-term cannabis businesses. Alongside the 3C team, I have helped nearly 500 clients to design, start-up, build, and scale their cannabis companies. I founded Multiverse Capital™, a cannabis & hemp venture firm, to provide investors with the deep cannabis operational experience necessary to adequately vet opportunities in the space. Our extensive network offers continuous access to quality deal flow. Further, we manage and advise portfolio companies via value-added services. As a result of my work with Multiverse, I was named one of the rising stars in cannabis investment by Business Insider in 2018. I frequently share my industry knowledge by keynoting at conferences and events, publishing original articles, and participating in industry committees and organizations, including serving as a Board Member for Americans for Safe Access (ASA). Additionally, I recently educated delegates on medical cannabis at the UN Intergovernmental Expert Group Meeting on International Challenges Posed by the Non-Medical use of Synthetic Opioids.

Chase is now covering the emerging hemp industry for The Jacobsen. The Jacobsen is an Independent Price Reporting Agency, reporting on agricultural commodities.

Michael Wittman

Char-man of the Board of Blue Sky Biochar

Michael has long been an environmental activist for an ever-growing number of national grass roots movements. He brings to bear a lifetime of experience in alternative energy and soil science. In 1970 he was a volunteer organizer of the very first Earth Day in New York City. His highest priority has long been the defense and conservation of all natural resources and life on earth.

His affinity for this planet's continued good health has never waivered as he has continued to advocate prudence and moderation in the environment. Blue Sky continues to advocate the individual reclamation of our biological birthright on earth.

Cory Sharp

President of HempLogic™

Cory founded the company with a fierce dedication to honesty, a keen entrepreneurial spirit and the invaluable experience of being one of the first hemp growers, seed and consulting businesses in the rapidly-evolving U.S. hemp industry.

HempLogic, America’s largest vertically integrated hemp company, started in 2015 in the spirit of entrepreneurship, belief in integrity and commitment to putting farmers and customers first. We provide ethical, trust-worthy and no-nonsense partnership to committed hemp farmers and industry partners. HempLogic offers certified hemp seeds, hemp farming education, contract, business and legal consulting, testing services, biomass brokering, drying capabilities and more.

Sharp’s expertise with hemp started from sheer grit and determination. A life-long Washington state farmer, Sharp is a Marine Corp veteran with a masters in logistics, materials and supply chain management. He first got interested in hemp as a food and fiber crop, then switched to CBD. In 2017 Sharp harvested the first hemp crop to be legally grown in Washington state for more than 80 years.

As an entirely new industry, those first years growing, processing and sales experience have given Sharp great insight into the challenges and opportunities with hemp. HempLogic is already positioning not only for this year’s crop and opportunities, but future developments in the industry.

The hemp explosion is the perfect fit for Sharp’s focused entrepreneurial spirit, problem-solving determination and background in logistics and supply chain management. And as a leader, not a follower, Sharp is making it happen for HempLogic and our customers.

It is a philosophy Sharp brought to HempLogic as he has built the company, developed relationships and staffed it with like-minded visionaries dedicated to service, integrity and problem-solving for the hemp industry.

Charlie McKenzie

Co-Founder, Crop Walk Host; Host of ‘CropTalk’ podcast

I am a former grower and proud UGA bulldawg horticulture graduate. After managing a “big-box” 20 acre bedding plant greenhouse operation and selling plants to Home Depot and Costco, I entered the cannabis industry and spent time managing a 90,000 square foot, high CBD greenhouse and 15 acre hemp outdoor operation in Colorado. During my time as a grower, I found that helping other growers better understand how to grow efficiently, profitably and implement biocontrol was my ultimate passion. While working for Biobest USA as a technical advisor in the South East, I had the opportunity to work with and learn from many talented growers and knowledgeable industry colleagues. Since December 2018, I have focused my time on the company I co-founded, CropWalk, a pest, disease and production audit provider. I host CropTalk the podcast for agricultural leaders. It features innovative members of the agricultural community who share their success stories, challenges and journey to produce quality crops..

#startcleanstayclean is the mantra I live my life by. Since starting CropWalk and collaborating with other quality individuals in the space, I co-founded an agricultural advisory and input supply company called Bioculture Group LLC. We currently serve hemp growers and those gearing up to grow hemp or other high value crops in 2020. We advised and consulted on over 550 acres of hemp crops, in four states, this year.

Bert James

Farmer, Homegrown Agriculture

Is an active crop consultant and farmer in Eastern NC. Homegrown Agriculture, established in 2001, has assisted over 100,000 acres of North Carolina production with fertility and crop management, specializing in technology and efficiency. In 2015, he served as president of the North Carolina Association of Crop Advisors. Recently, the opportunity to manage the family farm in Martin, Halifax and Pitt Counties has become a primary business interest. The production concepts involve integrating old methods with new farm practices such as regenerative row crop and livestock land management. Desiring new crops and a constant focus on localized markets led to a larger opportunity. Bio Regen Co-op was formed in December 2016 to assist in bringing new crops forward that may be viable sources of income for local farmers. The first focus was on the opportunity in industrial hemp. Two years later, North Carolina looks to be a legitimate front runner in bringing this ancient plant back to production. This would not have been possible without the financial support of the Co-op members and efforts from founders and board members, past and present. We have much to learn and are excited about the possibilities of new crops and industry brings.

Margaret MacKenzie

Co-Founder, Salt Creek Hemp and Eleven Acres

Margaret is a bold pioneer in the hemp industry. She convinced her mother to plant hemp on their family ranch in 2015, Colorado’s second legal harvest. As one of the first growers on the Western Slope of Colorado, her experience and knowledge of the hemp plant is exceptional. She uses regenerative farming practices to grow potent, pure hemp that is used in her two retail lines, Eleven Acres and Salt Creek Hemp. Margaret is immersed in educating and elevating the hemp industry, including educational speaking across the US and Caribbean, fundraising for the Hemp Feed Coalition, sitting on the board of the Colorado Hemp Industries Association and consulting new hemp growers on best practices.

Her greatest passion is helping small, independent farmers become hemp growers, empowering the farm economy while also creating all-natural beneficial hemp products.
